DOJ honors with DC locality adjustment is $99K a year if you do a clerkship first
state and locals pays way less than fedgov

For all the overly altruistic PI kids in here, a lot of big law firms have pro bono towards total hours and you can do "PI" for that (some allow a LOT of leeway when choosing these hours).
16:06
Make six figures more or less out of law school, see your family, get fed benefits. Could do a lot worse
it's pretty good for a stable 8-5 in the legal field tbh
16:07
If you want to be worth eight figures by age 50 then sure, biglaw hours for biglaw pay are the way to do that
i feel like biglaw is the harder route to that tbh

Midlaw associates made 330 at my old firm, see their fam, I’ll pass on the peanuts
Investment banking has a lower barrier of entry

jb2028: plus you get loans paid off in... *checks notes* ten years. lol

You can go make 200K+ right now working on an oil rig as a laborer lol you can work like an ib analyst or biglaw first year and do that paper grind right now. You people know that bachelor's degrees are a pretty big thing, right? Law is an excellent path, but you need to want LAW and not money as there are a million ways to make as much/be as lucrative.

Just have daddy pay your loans off smh

Big law is one of the best paths forwards for building wealth
KnowledgeableRitzyWasp
16:11
IB might have a worse work life balance than big law
CTCSH
16:11
Yup, but it is far from the only one.

I’m so scared of the CLS R wave
"just be an analyst if you want money" is kinda nuts
SeanStrickland2024
16:11
IB also pays less unless you get really high up which is hard without burnout

16:12
Me too me too

Oil rig workers are busting their ass in North Dakota, lawyers can make $235K sending emails from New York City fresh out of school. Mysteriously, some people prefer the latter.
16:12
I'm past fear when it comes to my NYU decision
16:12
Well, not oil *rig* workers in ND (that's shale) but same idea
16:12
@SeanStrickland2024: daddy uncle sam ;)
