If you get off the WL at another school, you can withdraw from your current school to go to the other school. It's just you lose the money but very common

What you generally can't do is deposit at two different schools, because then you're holding a spot (and scholarship $) knowing you won't be using one of those spots

Most schools' deposit/intent to enroll forms have some version of this language (exact language will vary, check your school's fine print):

yeah i was with my tourist friends (2 chinese, 1 japanese) and they were let into the club but i wasnt bc apparently no foreigners allowed
