I think "numbers are sufficient but not necessary condition" is probably more true now than it was ten years ago, but there's a bunch of different reasons for that, not just a holistic approach
GPA/LSAT is important for 2 reasons, 1) US News Rankings, and 2) those two stats are the strongest indicators of Law School success, so if you can demonstrate you're capable at doing well in their school through other softs that show your work ethic and academic capability, then you have a better chance at getting in even with below median stats
