I'm just really glad I'll be likely committed to Berkeley.
FranticSpiffySwallow
21:50
What did you think abt the protest there?
BearyGummy
21:50
So I don't like Berkeley's dean either but tbf it was not 100% unjustified since it was technically on private property. But the protests are much more open I feel like since they seem to value free speech more than Columbia at least

21:51
from what i read about the usc incident it was bc there were threats made?
KimchiQueen
21:52
Oh yeah. The USC admin didn't even bother raising the security to let her speak because they didnt want to set up a certain "image"... they totally could have but they just didn't want to support their own valedictorian
BearyGummy
21:52
^Yeah I saw that too. I withdrew from USC anyways but yeah that was a really bad move
GoodMorningPeeps
21:54
Btw, Jon M. Chu (director of "Crazy Rich Asians") and Billie Jean King are also stepping out as USC guest speakers for graduation after the valedictorian was prevented from doing her speech.

OMG really??

thats awesome
I hope the valedictorian gives her speech somewhere else, she deserves the chance to speak. or, you know, they actually let her speak

Suspending students before arresting them to give them the maximum legal fucking is pretty crazy
FranticSpiffySwallow
22:42
Cornell would never
QuixoticPowerfulAlligator
22:46
yea that’s sus and there’s also a columbia prof (maybe also cls) who has been very active in the pro israel convo, even inciting protests etc which seems innapropriate

Was assailed by pro-palistine protestors during the NYU law visit. I'll never understand how people expect to gain support by actively getting in your face and yelling at you for simply going about your day.

@farfar: cry about it
