To me, honestly, if anyone else is in a similar situation where you have no time to decide but are aware of a deadline coming up reach out to the school first. Yes it’s terrible though and I’m really sorry.

@ararara: you're absolutely correct, that's what I would have done. I just was unaware of the deadline being THAT DAY since it was the same day I got the welcome / acceptance email from the dean. I tried to look into financial aid before making a deposit but couldn't get in, which is why I started the email thread

I got admitted on the 15th and apparently the deadline was that day as well. I applied in September and they only got back to my after I called them in April, and I just had no idea they expected deposit the day of admittance without scholarship or financial info

It’s usually standard practice to give 7 days before rescinding your application, if you get accepted near the deadline they usually give you 7 days to decide

@ararara: you're absolutely right, that bridge was burned. But frankly this is one in a long string of rather disrespectful chain of correspondences that soured my opinion on the school from the start, let alone being kept waiting near 7 months. I did not, and do not, want to go to Villanova. I did not "go off" on the adcom, but I did professionally explain the frustration and wished her the best. Hopefully they are more professional in the future and do not treat future applicants in the same way, applicants who truly love Nova
