Waitlist movement happens *around* deposit deadlines, because that's when many applicants accept/decline their spots, but many schools are constantly looking at trends in yield and may start waitlist offers early if they're trending well below expectations

I did it last because of potential overlap!
I’d like movement today :(

It's a bit like forecasting the weather. Sometimes there are weird patterns and you only get the info to say if it'll rain 1-2 hours in advance, sometimes you see a giant front moving in several days out and it doesn't matter what happens in the last 2 hours, you're going to want an umbrella
I was a victim of the overlap for yellow and i hate myself for it
i got green first
I've been thinking a lot about not doing law school lately
I don't want to go 200k into debt at 40

possum :-(
its terrifying
Im 24 and also kinda on the fence. I alr have a comfortable life in accounting
my partner got referred to cancer clinic and I really can't afford to lose our health insurance at my job, and lawyers work insane hours that I worry wouldn't allow me to be there for her

Possum I’m in the same boat, same age (well currently 39 but yeah) and also left tech. Follow your heart! YOLO. Idk as I got older, money still matters of course but not doing something fulfilling was wearing me down. That’s just me tho. If you’re only 24 and think you might like law more than accounting, definitely go for it while you’re still young
11:33
seems like almost, if not all, of the CLS decisions yesterday were for students below one or both medians. interesting. i wonder when we'll start seeing more cutthroat decisions rejecting people above medians
Yeah i hate accounting this stuff makes me want to end it
Basically big law hours for 1/4 of the pay lol
oh possum, I can't imagine how hard that is. I can't relate to that stress but I do have two very young kids and I fear I will work too much and miss out on time with them. But I also know that I want to be a strong role model for my children, and do something I love. I have to believe in myself and trust that it will workout how it's supposed to.
@AvailablePossum: I am so sorry
Not all about the pay ik ik its more of the actual job that i dislike but its not too bad i guess idk
hang in there possum!
@bashandtheosmom: if it makes you feel better, my single mother graduated college when she was 36 and I was quite young and used that to create a great career she loved. She's been an inspiration to me and I am sure you will be a great one to your kids

Oh, that’s different calculus then. :( So sorry, Possum. (ran out of messages)
awwww thank you! that is inspiring! I love to hear stories like that. I just want to give my kids a better life than what I had growing up. other than psychology I really couldn't picture doing anything else.
